A pretty decent effort， if at times a bit slow， for an original story set within the Resident Evil universe。Rebecca Chambers develops further from her first appearance in Resident Evil as well as we delve deeper into the schemes of the Umbrella Corporation itself。

As a big fan of the resident evil series of games and the story lines I was excited to read an original story based within the series。It was very good and kept me reading but I didn’t massively engage with the characters due to knowing the later story lines， I am however excited to read the series of books and this entry was very easy to read and keep me intrigued to read the next one at some point。

خب این کتاب دیگه از بازی فاصله گرفته بود و یه ماهیت مجزا داشت کار شده تر بود هم اون ایرادات منطقی که تو کتاب اول اشاره کردم-که بیشتر به بازی برمیگرده تا کتاب- رو نداشت یا دست کم، کمتر شده بود و هم یه ویلن جذاب داشت。 هر چند در یک نگاه کلی فکر میکنم برای یک داستان ترسناک نویسنده میتونست。。。⚠️هشدار اسپویل⚠️مصائب و بلایای اصلی رو برای آخر کار نزاره و در طول داستان شوک های پراکنده وارد کنه تا هم جذابیت و هیجان اثر حفظ بشه و هم بزاره ما آخر داستان یه نفسی بکشیم！ هرچند که این الگو یکم قدیمی شده ولی هنوز خب این کتاب دیگه از بازی فاصله گرفته بود و یه ماهیت مجزا داشت کار شده تر بود هم اون ایرادات منطقی که تو کتاب اول اشاره کردم-که بیشتر به بازی برمیگرده تا کتاب- رو نداشت یا دست کم، کمتر شده بود و هم یه ویلن جذاب داشت。 هر چند در یک نگاه کلی فکر میکنم برای یک داستان ترسناک نویسنده میتونست。。。⚠️هشدار اسپویل⚠️مصائب و بلایای اصلی رو برای آخر کار نزاره و در طول داستان شوک های پراکنده وارد کنه تا هم جذابیت و هیجان اثر حفظ بشه و هم بزاره ما آخر داستان یه نفسی بکشیم！ هرچند که این الگو یکم قدیمی شده ولی هنوزم کارایی های خودشو داره。⚠️هشدار عدم اسپویل⚠️ （راحت باشید）شاید یکی از دلایلی که بیشتر از این کتاب خوشم اومد و کمتر از کتاب اول این باشه که داستانش رو جایی نشنیده بودم یا اگر بازی از روش ساخته شده بود جزو نسخه های فرعی بوده اما خب به چند دلیل از کتاب اول بهتر بود。اول اینکه خب کاملا در ادامه داستان کتاب اول بود و بر پایه اونچه از قبل روایت شده و اصطلاحا زمینه سازی شده بود جلو رفت و دو سه فصل اول هم ضربات و شوکهای زیادی داشت که قلاب جذابیت رو بندازه گردن مخاطب و با خودش بکشونش خب البته کتاب اولم چنین شروعی داشت ولی وقت بیشتری برای زمینه سازی و توصیف فضا و شرایط و بستر وقوع داستان کرد。 پس درواقع این مورد اول یه امتیاز خیلی طبیعی برای همه کتاب های دوم از یک مجموعه س。اما مورد دوم "گذرگاه کالیبان" به طرز هوشمندانه ای توصیفات اضافی نداشت و شخصیت بی تاثیر و یا کم اهمیتی در روایتش به ما نشون نمیداد。。。 زاویه دوربین تماما روی هر کارکتر یا کارکترهایی که قرار میگرفت هدفدار و مفید بود و خلاصه بخش سوخته نداشت و این خودش عاملی برای جذابیت بود。مورد سوم درباره داستانه؛ تیم دیوید تروپ دقیقا نمایانگر اون چیزی بود که در کتاب اول تیم وسکر فقط اداش رو درمیاورد؛ یعنی یک جوخه آموزش دیده و حرفه ایِ s。t。a。r。s ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⛔هشدار اسپویل⛔این حس و حال خیلی بهتری داشت گرچه یکجاهایی پلات آرمور کاملا حس میشد و وقتی تیم به ویلن اصلی رسید شاید به خاطر قدرتنمایی اون و اینکه نشون بده واقعا چی ازش برمیاد یکهو پلات آرمور برداشته شد و خب طبیعتا تیم حرفه ای ما به خاک و خون کشیده شد。 ⚠️راحت باشید⚠️با این همه همچنان فضا و اون عملکرد حرفه ای رو خیلی بهتر از تیم وسکر در کتاب اول منتقل میکرد و در حد استانداردی باورپذیر بود。 اما اینا به کنار شخصیت پردازی！ اینطور نیست که شخصیت پردازی کتاب اول بد باشه ولی این کتاب ارتباطات جالب تری رو به ما نشون داد و خب به نظرم نسبت به کتاب اول جذاب تر بود。تنها ایرادات خیلی بولد برام همین پلات آرمور و نکته ای هست که تو دو بخش هشدار اسپویل اشاره کردم。。。（اول و آخر باید برید بخونیدش و اسپویل بشید یا اگه نمیخواید چیزی براتون اسپویل بشه خودتون کتاب دست بگیرید و بیاید وسط داستان！）با همه این ها اون ضعف های منطقی و دو مورد پاراگراف قبلی قانعم کرد که بیش از سه ستاره ندم。。。 یه چیزی که واقعا در مورد این مجموعه اذیتم میکنه و خیلی بی انصافیه اینه که شروع و پایان هاش خیلی جذابه به طوری که من اول میخواستم برن سر کتاب سوم مجموعه ویچر ول یکم از کتاب اول رو خوندم و دیگه نشد بیخیالش بشم بعد از اونم یه ضرب رفتم سمت کتاب دوم که این کتاب باشه و حالا که پایانش رو خوندم فهمیدم نمیشه ولش کرد باید رفت سر کتاب سوم。 این خیلی نامردیه ول کن معامله نیست😭 。。。more

Three books into the series and I'm starting to discover that the Resident Evil novels are Rebecca's reverse harem adventures minus the sex and with a healthy dose of zombies。 I mean， Billy， Chris， Richard， David， Steve， Karen。。。 I'm not wrong， and I still have several more of them to get through。 No one spoil it for me if I get to add Leon to that list in the next book。Following the events of the Spencer Mansion Incident， the surviving members of the Raccoon City STARS are shunned， disgraced， d Three books into the series and I'm starting to discover that the Resident Evil novels are Rebecca's reverse harem adventures minus the sex and with a healthy dose of zombies。 I mean， Billy， Chris， Richard， David， Steve， Karen。。。 I'm not wrong， and I still have several more of them to get through。 No one spoil it for me if I get to add Leon to that list in the next book。Following the events of the Spencer Mansion Incident， the surviving members of the Raccoon City STARS are shunned， disgraced， discredited， and ostracized by the local populace。 The investigation into Umbrella's connections to the murders has gone cold。 The remaining members of STARS are struggling to keep on with life as normal。 Brad has hightailed it out of town。 Barry has sent his wife and daughters to somewhere he hopes they will be safe。 Jill， Chris， and Rebecca are meeting at Barry's to rendezvous with a STARs veteran， David， they can trust with the investigation。The news is dire。 Umbrella has infiltrated the highest-ranking STARS officers。 No one is coming to save them。 David has one option for them; Umbrella has another facility in Caliban Cove that from their reports seems to have gone the same way as the Spencer Estate。 He wants to take a small team in， find concrete evidence that Umbrella is doing some shady shit， and then take it to the press or something because I highly doubt the FBI is going to help them。 From the Raccoon City team， David only wants to recruit Rebecca because she's young and cute and this is her reverse harem novel？ Actually， I think the official reason is that she's the only one who understands the science behind the T-Virus that has the rest of the STARS baffled。 They don't even make it out of Barry's house before things sprint south。 As soon as they finalize their plans， they're attacked。 Shots are fired， the STARs barely make it out alive， and people are forced to kill former colleagues。 The STARs separate to go about their appointed tasks。Once Rebecca and David get to the rendezvous point， we meet the new team。 Don't get too attached to them though， as they will probably suffer the same fate as the rest of the Resident Evil side characters。 Billy。 Carlos。 Steve。 Moira。 Sheva。 Ashley。 Odds are that we will never hear from them again。 The new team of Red Shirts infiltrates the Caliban Cove facility where it quickly becomes evident that things have already gone the route of Raccoon City。 There's a scientist who wants to fix the world with this virus， but I wasn't sure about the delivery method。 Something to do with the lighthouse？ Anyway， an attempt was made to create original puzzles。 People die。 Rebecca saves the day。It doesn't quite capture the feel of the Resident Evil games， but it's definitely a step up from The Umbrella Conspiracy。 At this point， Zero Hour remains my favorite。 。。。more

Nuevamente otro libro de esta saga que leí en su momento pero me olvidé casi todo。 En esta ocasión es una aventura original protagonizada por Rebecca Chambers mucho antes de su protagónico total en la precuela Hora Zero， una historia que también no tiene contraparte videojueguil sino que fue parte del contrato de la editorial con la autora。 El ser una historia original le lleva sus pros y contras， tiene una buena exploración de personajes pero de nuevo Rebecca no hace demasiado ni tampoco su equ Nuevamente otro libro de esta saga que leí en su momento pero me olvidé casi todo。 En esta ocasión es una aventura original protagonizada por Rebecca Chambers mucho antes de su protagónico total en la precuela Hora Zero， una historia que también no tiene contraparte videojueguil sino que fue parte del contrato de la editorial con la autora。 El ser una historia original le lleva sus pros y contras， tiene una buena exploración de personajes pero de nuevo Rebecca no hace demasiado ni tampoco su equipo al que se acopla， los desafíos de la Ensenada Calibán tampoco son muy imaginativos y lo mejor que saco en concreto es un nuevo virus que no es tan nocivo como el T-Virus y permite además el control del huésped para que siga instrucciones y porte armas。 Es algo repetitivo y para cuándo comienza lo bueno， la acción termina y deja con ganas de más。 No es horrible ni innecesario， pero esperaba mucho más de esta historia de la oficial Chambers， que al menos intentó un poco más de lo que Capcom ha hecho con el personaje （ya luego se resarciría un poco con Resident Evil Zero） 。。。more

Pero que es esta mierda。。。。。。。。。。 Ay mae pero que decepción más brutal me lleve leyendo este libro！！！！！！！ Este ha sido el peor libro de zombies que he leído en toda mi vida！！！！！！！ Si es que a esta cochinada se le puede llamar libro de zombies。Para empezar， de criaturas mutadas únicamente tiene a los perros y las ballenas， los cuales salen como por una página cada uno en el libro nada más。Luego los disque zombies que aparecen son únicamente 3 y tras de eso salen manejando metralletas， lo cual me Pero que es esta mierda。。。。。。。。。。 Ay mae pero que decepción más brutal me lleve leyendo este libro！！！！！！！ Este ha sido el peor libro de zombies que he leído en toda mi vida！！！！！！！ Si es que a esta cochinada se le puede llamar libro de zombies。Para empezar， de criaturas mutadas únicamente tiene a los perros y las ballenas， los cuales salen como por una página cada uno en el libro nada más。Luego los disque zombies que aparecen son únicamente 3 y tras de eso salen manejando metralletas， lo cual me pareció ridículo ya que eso difícilmente se puede considerar un zombie， no se si estaban intentando hacer como una especie de imitación de Némesis pero la verdad les salió del orto la idea！！！！！ Que de por sí ni duran mucho xq rapidito los matan a los 3。。。Después para colmar la paciencia el único zombie propiamente dicho que aparece es eso justamente， un único zombie en todo el libro al puro final que así como apareció se fue， xq no habían ni terminado de presentarlo en escena y ya le habían metido una bala en la cabeza。Ya fuera de esto el resto de amenazas eran un par de soldados humanos comunes y corrientes con un lavado de cerebro que no se si el autor intentaba simular como lo que era el zombie vudú o que carajos tenía en mente pero la verdad eso no siquiera eran zombies！！！！！！Osea así de plano este libro era super aburrididimo， no pasaba nada durante toda la historia， no había acción， no asustaba en ningún momento， nunca me hizo sentir esos picos de adrenalina que me habían echo sentir los 2 libros anteriores， no me tuvo al borde del asiento en ningún momento， la verdad ya para la mitad del libro yo simplemente estaba deseando que terminara y me lo terminé nada más por respeto a la integridad de la saga。Este libro prácticamente se pasó por el culo todo el buen trabajo que se había creado en la precuela y en el primer libro。De verdad de verdad no recomiendo este libro para nada， yo no me he terminado las saga pero espero que se pueda brincar del libro 1 al 3 sin alterar la historia y que todo se entienda bien xq tener ate leer este libro。。。。。。。。。。。 hasta todavía me duele pensar en el tiempo que invertí leyendo este libro y que nunca recuperaré。 。。。more

Is quite obvious this was an original story and not part of the game-to-book narrative， and this comes to mixed quality。The dread and desperation are quite well made whereas the puzzles and character come flat。 Specially Rebecca， allegedly the smartest STARS main character becomes the fucksble 18yo a little disappointing， and the team， supposedly STARS do not manage the same professionalism as other members that appear in the main series。Overall enjoyable yet forgettable entry in the series。

"Take away a man's ability to choose， his mind becomes free， a blank， clean slate。 With training， he becomes a pet; without， he becomes a animal， as harmless and serenely simple as a mouse。 Cover the world with such animals， and only the strong survive。。。"Everything I liked and disliked about Caliban Cove is pretty much the same as the Umbrella Conspiracy with just a few differences。 I really enjoyed the beginning。 The attack from Umbrella was amazing and I love the plot of Umbrella hunting "Take away a man's ability to choose， his mind becomes free， a blank， clean slate。 With training， he becomes a pet; without， he becomes a animal， as harmless and serenely simple as a mouse。 Cover the world with such animals， and only the strong survive。。。"Everything I liked and disliked about Caliban Cove is pretty much the same as the Umbrella Conspiracy with just a few differences。 I really enjoyed the beginning。 The attack from Umbrella was amazing and I love the plot of Umbrella hunting their lose ends。 But while I liked it I feel like us getting Barry， Chris， and Jill point of view wasn't the best option。 I think it would have been better with only Rebecca and Davids because we don't get the other 3 for the rest of the novel。 I think an idea with Chris， Jill， and Barry running from Umbrella would have been an amazing subplot which is something that could have happened easily and brings me to my second complaint。 This book needed to be longer！ There are some deaths at the end with the new characters and I just didn't care because we barely knew them because they had no time to grow。 If this book was longer and less rushed they would have had so much more time to developed。 "Men。 Shes young， she's cute， and shes undoubtedly smarter than all of us put together-but the young and cute part tend to make them overlook the rest。Although the characters weren't very developed， I still did enjoy them。 Karen Driver was a straightforward character with a calm demeanor。 I liked her character， and her love interest John Andrews， I thought they were both a cute addition to the team。 Rebecca Chambers the lead of this novel I loved， I thought she held her own story very well and cannot wait to see more from her， along with her love interest Steve Lopez who was probably the least developed but I still liked him。 I also liked David Trapp who was the leader of their team and an I ended up loving him。 When it came to the antagonist I ended up in love with him。 Griffith has an interesting back story which I really wanted it to expand on but I guess we got enough。 Griffiths idea on the whole mindless zombies being brainwashed to work for him was the most interesting thing about this book。 My favorite chapters were from his POV so we got more on his idea of humanity。 If you like Resident Evil， you'll love this book and finding out what happened between the first and second games。 。。。more

I can sum up my view of Caliban Cove in a single apathetic expression。。。 meh。 The book didn’t get interesting until 100 pages in。 Build up is important but it just didn’t grab my attention。 It was dry and I found myself wishing they’d just get on with it。 The world building was okay， the characters。。。 again， meh。 Still， Perry wrote a decent book， but this was definitely not the strongest book in the series。 I have hire hopes for Volume 3 which from the reviews sounds like a fan favorite。
